In 2021 I was invited to the Highlands to look at a project to restore and convert a steading which the family had owned for many years.
The location is breathtaking and was formerly part of the Balmoral estate.
Once a burnt out shell, it had been repaired and then left unused for many years. During my visit we discussed how the family wished to change it’s use
On the long journey home I sketched out some ideas and we prepared plans and visuals
It has been another long journey to complete, as trades in the Highlands are few and far between and we had to join a queue!
Creating the living space
This is the extension we built along the back of the building.
As the Client’s family home is both large and traditional they required a more contemporary style living for this retreat.
